Day 265 - Thursday, September 22, 2011
Day 265 - Thursday, September 22, 2011 – Liam's customized Zigs that we ordered in early August arrived today. This is the look of weeks of anticipation being realized as he excitedly tore into this package.
Day 264 - Wednesday, September 21, 2011
Day 263 - Tuesday, September 20, 2011
Day 263 - Tuesday, September 20, 2011 – BFF's Megan and Jordyn take a break from float building to pose for another self portrait to instantly upload to Facebook.
Day 262 - Monday, September 19, 2011
Day 262 - Monday, September 19, 2011 – Ashton giving Owen a hand with his homework. As it turns out, Owen is turning into a pretty good big brother, too.
Day 261 - Sunday, September 18, 2011
Day 260 - Saturday, September 17, 2011
Day 260 - Saturday, September 17, 2011 – I have to say, leading up to the JV Blue vs JV Gold game this week, I expected to cheer today when either team scored or did something well. Win/Win situation, right? Well, as the quarters rolled along with Gold having a big fat goose egg the entire time, I'll admit it, I got bitter. I can handle not winning. But not scoring? Not a big fan. (Photo Coming).
Day 259 - Friday, September 16, 2011
Day 259 - Friday, September 16, 2011 – Kevin bribed Owen with a dollar if he got all of his spelling words correct. Whatever works.
Day 258 - Thursday, September 15, 2011
Day 257 - Wednesday, September 14, 2011
Day 256 - Tuesday, September 13, 2011
Day 256 - Tuesday, September 13, 2011 – What a fun night in the D with Jordyn, Bailey, and Shawn. We saw the first production in the Fisher Theater season, Come Fly Away. The music of Frank Sinatra with fabulous choreography. iTunes, here I come. I need to download some of Ol' Blue Eyes' music, stat.
Day 255 - Monday, September 12, 2011
Day 255 - Monday, September 12, 2011 – Owen practices writing his spelling words on this new crayon-y white board, insisting that he write each word in a different color.
Day 254 - Sunday, September 11, 2011
Day 254 - Sunday, September 11, 2011 – We spent the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 at Liam's football game. Other than noticing that the flag at the stadium was flying at half staff and reflecting briefly on "where I was when" (sleeping with my newborn, my sister calling shortly after the first plane hit, spending the rest of the day glued to the TV as the horrific drama continued to unfold), it was pretty much an ordinary day.

Day 253- Saturday, September 10, 2011
Day 251 - Thursday, September 8, 2011
Day 250 - Wednesday, September 7, 2011
Day 250 - Wednesday, September 7, 2011 – Owen unleashed his dormant athletic beast at his first flag football practice today. He was thrilled to learn that Ronnie is on his team.
Day 249 - Tuesday, September 6, 2011
Day 249 - Tuesday, September 6, 2011 – First Day of School, already?! Where did the summer go?! As sad as we are to say goodbye to summer, I have two out of three kids who are thrilled to be going back to school. Jordyn is looking forward to, as a sophomore, no longer being the low man on the high school totem pole. Liam is looking forward to, as a fifth grader, ruling the elementary school. And, Owen, as a second grader, is already looking forward to Friday.
Day 248 - Monday, September 5, 2011
Day 247 - Sunday, September 4, 2011
Day 247 - Sunday, September 4, 2011 – Watching Ashton model his older brother's behavior is magnificent to behold. He is a sponge. And, hopefully, a future Wii World Series champion.
Day 246 - Saturday, September 3, 2011
Day 246 - Saturday, September 3, 2011 – Jordyn, Mair, and I joined our Zumba instructor, Leslie at Arts, Beats, and Eats in Royal Oak to attempt a world record for the largest Zumba fitness class ever. While we had more than 900 people, the record to beat was upwards of 1,300. So, unfortunately no world record for the LARGEST Zumba fitness class, but I'm pretty sure we now hold the world record for the HOTTEST Zumba fitness class ever. We melted into pools of sweat on the pavement, and had a lot of laughs in the process.
Day 245 - Friday, September 2, 2011
Day 245 - Friday, September 2, 2011 – Owen came running into my office to tell me that there was a snake in the garage. Sure enough, when I went to check it out, there was a garter snake curled up at the rear bumper of the Tahoe. As I went to look for a rake or something to remove the snake from the garage, I think the snake was startled and it quickly slithered into the bowels of our garage. For the rest of the day, Owen and his BFF, Ronnie went snake hunting in the garage (note the green net). At one point, Owen got a couple of eggs from the fridge to set on the driveway as bait. When the eggs didn't work to attract the snake, Owen decided to CRACK the eggs on the driveway, where they proceeded to poach in the hot sun. Nice.
Day 244 - Thursday, September 1, 2011
Day 243 - Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Day 243 - Wednesday, August 31, 2011 – Ashton and his sword...a.k.a.
the lid and straw to a water bottle. Even at 16 months, little boys naturally know how to turn normal household objects into weapons.
Day 241 - Monday, August 29, 2011
Day 241 - Monday, August 29, 2011 – Jordyn and Alicia had a blast tonight filming a music video in our basement. LMFAO Party Rock Anthem...every day I'm shufflin'.
Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Day 240 - Sunday, August 28, 2011
Day 240 - Sunday, August 28, 2011 – Seriously, could this girl get any more beautiful?! Sitting out on our back patio, a small slice of paradise. (Photo Credit - Alicia Kuligowski)
Day 239 - Saturday, August 27, 2011
Day 239 - Saturday, August 27, 2011 – Today was Liam's turn to play on Oxford's new field (Liam is in the far right of the photo). They were the third team to play a game on the turf, and unfortunately the first Oxford team to lose on it, bringing Liam's 12 game winning streak with OJW to a close.
Day 238 - Friday, August 26, 2011
Day 238 - Friday, August 26, 2011 – Liam and his fellow OJW brothers cheer the Oxford Wildcats varsity football team on to victory against defending state champions, Lake Orion during the inaugural game on the brand new MAGICAL BLUE TURF. A historic day in Oxford, for sure. 20-41, good guys.
Day 237 - Thursday, August 25, 2011
Day 237 - Thursday, August 25, 2011 – Sorry for embarrassing you, Jordyn, but I loved snapping this pic of your yearbook training. Again, material for future therapy sessions as an adult. Jordyn is super excited that two of her BFFs, Megan and Shelby, are on the yearbook staff, too.
Monday, August 29, 2011
Day 236 - Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Day 235 - Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Day 233 - Sunday, August 21, 2011
Day 233 - Sunday, August 21, 2011 – WOO HOO! We received this letter in the mail today to let us know that Jordyn was one of 20 kids selected out of 100 who applied to join the yearbook staff. She is SO excited and I am SO happy for her.
Day 231 - Friday, August 19, 2011
Day 231 - Friday, August 19, 2011 – We had the best visit ever from two of our favorite people on the planet. Sean & Susan came all the way from San Jose, bearing prizes for everyone. We made them beer can chicken, Michigan sweet corn, tomato basil mozzarella, and baked beans, then we went to watch Kev's softball play offs. Hopefully they'll stay for two days next time!
Day 230 - Thursday, August 18, 2011
Day 229 - Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Day 228 - Tuesday, August 16, 2011
Day 228 - Tuesday, August 16, 2011 – Jordyn, my mom, and Cordelia go to see the movie The Help in Florida. So, that's where my Detroit tank top went!!
Day 227 - Monday, August 15, 2011
Day 227 - Monday, August 15, 2011 – Kevin took vacation this week and went out on the boat with the Petoskey boys, Carson and Owen relax in the hammock afterwards and while it looks like Owen is trying to flip me off (as his dad often does), he's actually trying to prevent me from taking a picture of a scab on the side of his nose.
Day 226 - Sunday, August 14, 2011
Day 225 - Saturday, August 13, 2011
Day 225 - Saturday, August 13, 2011 – I forced Kevin to attend the Kid Rock concert with me tonight at Comerica Park. We went down to the D via Nick's Shuttle Service (never again!) with Ellie & Ryan and their friends Todd & Gina. We met up at Cheli's before the concert with the Petoskeys, Calls, Matczaks, and Stouts, and had a BLAST dancing to the live band in the beer tent. Kevin might not love Kid Rock, but he loves a fun night of partying...although both of us would have preferred to have gotten home before 3:30 am since neither of us are the rockstars we once were.
Day 224 - Friday, August 12, 2011
Day 224 - Friday, August 12, 2011 – Tonight Jordyn and I went to see Bailey perform as Irene Molloy in the Oakland Homeschool Music production of Hello, Dolly! And, while Bailey was, of course PHENOMENAL, all of the Sprys participated in this fabulous production. Bella was part of the chorus, Aaron played violin in the orchestra, and Jake (right) was part of the cool sunglasses-wearing crew.
Day 223 - Thursday, August 11, 2011
Day 223 - Thursday, August 11, 2011 – We're preparing to send Jordyn to Florida with my mom for 12 days, so we let her pick a restaurant for dinner tonight. Italia Gardens. This picture doesn't do her hair justice, she was wearing the cutest side pony tail and it was CURLY! We're going to miss her!
Day 222 - Wednesday, August 10, 2011
Day 222 - Wednesday, August 10, 2011 – I dropped Liam off at Echo Grove camp in Leonard for a one night, two day OJW football camp. He was able to bunk in the same room as Max and Mr. Parsons, along with Michael Scepka, Austin Redlin, and Austin Findlay.
Day 221 - Tuesday, August 9, 2011
Day 221 - Tuesday, August 9, 2011 – It looks like Owen is eating a Hostess cupcake, but no, he's taking a faux bite out of a squishy hockey puck. Of course.
Day 219 - Sunday, August 7, 2011
Day 219 - Sunday, August 7, 2011 – Kevin took Owen and Liam to Michigan's Adventure to celebrate Liam's birthday. Liam invited Sam Barrott to spend the day with him who brought along his dad, Ken. OOH RAH! They had a blast and stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Hillary's for dinner on the way home.
Day 218 - Saturday, August 6, 2011
Day 218 - Saturday, August 6, 2011 – Double Digits for Liam!! We started the day with a trip to the Clarkston Farmer's Market and then breakfast in Clarkston with my mom and sister. Then we joined the Matczak's on their boat on Lake Orion. Liam and Owen had a blast tubing together, and it only took 75 photos for me to get THE PERFECT shot...no cropping required!! We finished the night at the Hillary Tavern celebrating with the Matczaks, Calls, Parsons and some candles in an order of cinnamon sticks. Do you think Liam will have long therapy sessions later in life about how his mom didn't have a birthday cake for him on his tenth birthday? Gotta give 'em something to talk about.
Day 217 - Friday, August 5, 2011
Day 217 - Friday, August 5, 2011 – Friday night Casa ball. Hillary on first, Psycho (Carol Carpenter) on second. Photo Credit - Laura Armbruster.
